Randall W. Strahan, B.S., M.A., University of Houston; Ph.D., University of Virginia (1986). Fulbright Chair in American Studies, Denmark (1992-93). Current research interests include partisanship and leadership in the U.S. Congress, the politics of the slavery issue in the U.S. during the years leading up to the Civil War, and the methodological foundations of Tocqueville's political science. Teaches courses on American politics and political development, U.S. Congress, American political leadership, British politics and qualitative research methods.

In 2002, Professor Strahan received the Crystal Apple Award, an undergraduate teaching award conferred by Emory students. In 2009, he received the Emory Williams Distinguished Teaching Award, Emory University's highest award for teaching excellence.
